@ Ephemeral 2019
Ephemeral 2019 has an exciting line-up of artists to deliver a wonderful program of creative workshops.
Australian sculptor and creator of the One A Day Ephemeral Art Project - Shona Wilson - will lead a day-long masterclass in Ephemeral art.
Author Gabbie Stroud will inspire young writers in a day-long workshop.
And four of the Bega Valley's most creative professional talents - spoonsmith Jeff Donne, textile artist Lorna Crane, screenprinter Julie Krone, and artist Hilary Peterson - will lead morning and afternoon sessions. Participants in their workshops will have a unique opportunity to learn and try the techniques of these artists' respective crafts.

Ephemeral things (from Greek ephemeros, literally "lasting only one day") are transitory, existing only briefly. Typically the term is used to describe objects found in nature, although it can describe a wide range of things. The experience of making an ephemeral artwork enables a unique and intimate interaction with our environment.
Shona Wilson is an Australian sculptor who has worked on a small and intimate scale with natural found materials for twenty-five years. Shona is the creator of the One A Day Ephemeral Art Project that has inspired people worldwide. #ephemeralartjourneysdaily.
Shona’s workshop, based at Panboola, provides the time, space and inspiration for you to create a number of transient, site sensitive sculptural works using only the materials and elements found on site on the day. Shona presents a framework of ideas and facilitates inspirational exercises to fire your imagination, and then we will explore, gather, re-arrange and then record what you create.

A unique and inspiring creative writing and literature workshop within the beautiful landscape of Panboola wetlands.
Young writers can expect to spread their wings and take some risks with their writing. We will be playing with words and ideas and having a ridiculous amount of fun. Secrets to good writing will be revealed and participants will come away from the workshop feeling empowered and ready to write more!
Gabbie Stroud is an experienced teacher and writer. She has a Masters in children's literacy and literature and is passionate about empowering young people with the gifts of reading, writing and speaking.
Create your own beautiful set of brushes from native plant fibre that will make a series of unique marks on paper and cloth.
Lorna Crane is a local contemporary fibre artist known internationally as a brush maker. Her contemporary work explores the landscape of place using natural and found materials to create a visual narrative about the places she inhabits.

Create a postcard book that reflects the plants and wildlife of Panboola using frottage, paint and stencilling. A beautiful way to create a memory of visiting a place.
Hilary is an experienced visual artist taking many approaches to interpret the natural world which is the focus of her work. She works in textiles, book making, printing, painting and dyeing.

Create a stunning locally inspired teatowel. Playing with a choice of colours and background shapes, each participant will have the opportunity to screenprint artist designed images of kangaroos and swamphens onto natural fabrics.
Julie has 12 years teaching experience in visual arts at NSW TAFE and has been a practicing artist for 30 years.

Shaping Wood by Hand
with Spoonsmith Jeff Donne
Discover the soulful feeling of shaping sustainably sourced tree using only simple hand tools and make your very own spoon. Or fancy indulging in some Snitte sculpting? Create a simple but stunning little snitte bird sculpture using the Danish art of wood whittling.
Jeff Donne will demonstrate his skills of shaping wood by hand and participants will enjoy giving the lost craft a go themselves.
Some 20 years ago, Jeff began working with wood by hand, and shares his wood wisdom through his Spoonsmith workshops all over the country.
